Infrastructure in our school (it is getting better but no where near there yet), then PD'ing staff on ICT that is relevant and then time I only get 4 periods a week which is not enough

Getting teachers to see the importance and relevance of using ICT within the curriculum. Many are intimidated by it or see their students as knowing more than them, so don't want to be see as not an 'expert' in this area.

It's amazing when they actually look at it from a curriculum/teaching learning point of view and not a technical one, how they change their minds about it's value and potential. Can be hard work toget some to this stage.

Also, changing the mindset of principals and leadership in schools that they need to make sure that they are able to provide appropriate PD and resources for their teachers and students.

Encouraging (getting) staff to find time and a place for collaborative use of technology. Moving them on from individual products like word documents, or powerpoints to collaborative products using web 2 technologies, and the use of multi-media.
Time to explore, document and work with staff for this to happen.
Access to computers - 1 lab for 19 classes and 4-5 computers in a room is not enough.

The most depressing thing I should say about ICT in education for myself personally, is the fact that it has become clear to me that my school has a lack of vision for this. Despite some recent upgrades and a new lab a year ago, there are so many restrictions (although, it probably comes from CEO) to what we can do. No images are allowed through, also no YouTube etc. Basically any innovative technology is suppressed out of the system as they are scared out of their skins that a student - God forbid - decided to check something they shouldn't. Isn't there a better way to control without kicking everyone out of the circle. Besides this,there is the resources available and by that I mean both if the Government is so hyped up about their so-called "education revolution" why doesn't do some proper research first, give us schools and teachers what we need the most which is proper professional development. Top this off with adequate finances and support so that every room in every school has at least 5 computers connected and other ICT devices to ensure full integration in the curriculum. But hey! Do you think that will actually happen? I don't think so Tim!
